What does the ARTINFO Data Bank "From Russia with Art" offer?

The world's largest ARTINFO Data Bank "From Russian with Art" offers pictorial and textual information about Russian contemporary art.
Its main purpose is to make available to users the wealth of cultural data and tangible information support for artists, art critics, art historians, students of art, art institutions and art lovers through the Internet and a CD-ROM series "Computer Collection of Art. Contemporary Fine Arts" which has been published by ARTINFO since 1994.
It is the world's largest computer Data Bank offering information about contemporary Russian art.

What information and in what form does the Bank offer?

Our data bank is designed to store and make available full authentic information about individuals and organizations active in the sphere of art. Information is provided in a number of modes - textual (in Russian and English), still photos, audio and video sequences to give the user the most comprehensive idea of the content of each and every entry.

First of all, let's look to the future.
By joining the Bank, the artist gets a unique possibility for storing information about oneself and one's art, as well as making this information available to a worldwide audience.

How often is the Bank site on the Internet visited?

More than 500 visits are registered every day and over 300,000 visits by both professionals and ordinary lovers of art have visited the site since it was opened in November, 1996.
How do they respond and what are they interested in?
First of all, they express sincere appreciation of the possibility to get to know so many interesting artists and their works. Many have asked for a direct contact with the artists.
Some have expressed an interest in purchasing works of art and the number of such people is growing.
Publishers inquire about the copyright and the possibility to publish some of the works of art.
Four CD-ROMs in the series "Computer Collection of Art. Contemporary Fine Arts" have already been published. The disks that are on sale worldwide contain information about more than 400 artists and over 4,000 pictures of their works of art.

How does one join your bank?

It is very simple. It is only necessary to:
- fill out our questionnaire,
- provide a snapshot of yourself,
- provide slides (negatives or photographs) of your works,
- sign a contract for membership of the Bank and pay an entrance fee.
All of the above materials will be returned to you.

What art projects do we support?

Net Art - a project featuring Russian artists working in the field of the emerging Net Art.
Da-Da-Net - The First Russian Festival of Art Resources.
Organizers - ARTINFO Multimedia Publishers and Soros Centre for Contemporary Arts, Moscow.
Its aim was to tap the potential of the Russian artists implementing projects on the Internet, identify among the Russian-speaking users of the Internet those who are interested in contemporary art and provide an opportunity for them to place their works in a wider art context, to participate in discussions of electronic community culture and introduce them to western art resources.
